In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, I praise Him for Himself, and I thank Him in a comprehensive acknowledgment, offering praise and commendation for what is befitting to His concealed essence. He is One, unique in His oneness, with an absolute singularity that befits His essence. I bear witness that He is the Singular, the Unique, the Holy, with His beauty, majesty, and perfection. And blessings upon the one from whom the lights emanated, illuminating the hearts of the chosen lovers, a mirror reflecting the realities of His names and attributes. He is the key to the treasures of love, generosity, and benevolence—the focal point of the circle of near witnesses. Our master , the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and upon his family, companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
Know, my brothers and sister's, may Allah make you among the people of His love, that whoever is illuminated by the lights of Allah in their heart through His remembrance, engages in the majesty of His presence and the beauty of His authority. Whoever inhales the breeze of intimacy through His oneness becomes one who sees none but Him. The Most Merciful bestows His favor and grace upon them. With this intervention, I intended to narrate to you an epic of the exploits of men, centered around love and nearness, so that we may extract wisdom and lessons from their biographies. In the name of Allah, I begin, seeking His assistance and relying on His satisfaction, the All-Wise and the All-Knowing.
He had a handsome face, adorned with a veil against the wicked, and all destinies were pleased with her. Thus, his reputation spread among the rulers of the lands and territories. They chanted his name in all gatherings: "Our leader, the leader of the time, our sheikh, the sheikh chosen for nobility, the pole, around whom all things revolve."
Every Friday, the famous scholar would ride his boat, traveling through the rivers of the lands and the flowers of the meadows, seeking to elevate his ambitions and fill all gaps. While rowing, he would gaze at the images of trees and flowers reflected on the water's surface. Suddenly, he heard a voice resembling a joyful chant, enveloping the forests, mountains, and slopes. He hurriedly searched everywhere in his boat, from the valley, seeking the source and secret of the chant, both in reality and in speech.
His virtue traversed the corners of forests and wilderness until he found a dignified sheikh, adorned with the beauty of the righteous, beneath the blessed tree mentioned in the Quran. For ninety years, he lived in seclusion, sustained by the divine light of his Lord, without needing kin, friends, or wealth. He repeated something resembling the name of Allah, an utterance that doesn't conform to the norm of ordinary speech. It was something like "Allah, Allah."
When the wanderer asked the sheikh of the blessed tree about his state, he replied, "My food is the buds of flowers, my drink is the essence of dewdrops on roses. My day is spent in proximity to my Beloved, and my night is a vigil with my beloved and the celestial hosts. My covering is the warmth of the secret of stars and existence. My fragrance is the breeze of commendable union, and the secrets of my heart are a symphony of the dawn's jubilant melodies. Love attracted me to His side, so I stood in His presence, and my heart found peace in His nearness.
Indeed, Allah calls me, calls you, calls us: 'Arise, accept! My love surpasses the expanse of heavens and earth. So, come close; gain what others have not, for those who succeed are the ones who forsake and spend nights sleepless. They gain by emptying themselves for my sake.'"
The wanderer returned after advising the complete sheikh to replace "Allah Allah" with the actual words of Allah. He paddled tirelessly against the current of the usual valley and islands, contemplating the words and states of the blessed sheikh. Once again, he heard, "Allah, Allah," emanating from the beautiful location of flowers and the blessed tree. He adjusted his oar to align with the complete sheikh's direction to correct his invocations.
At the age of ninety, he walked on the water's surface of the valley, calling out to the wanderer, "My mind has lost track of mentioning His name. Won't you inform me once more, guide me? Oh, how I wish my drink increases from it, my closeness to it completes. I wish my eyes only shed tears for Him, and my longing becomes my guide. Oh, I wish my yearning becomes my ink, and my longing becomes my love. Oh, my Lord, I am always turning to You, but my inability to articulate letters only intensifies my love. Knowing that even if my words and expressions are lost, You remain eternally, my Lord, my God, the Living, the Everlasting. You are the Gentle, the Knowledgeable, the Forbearing, the Wise, the Beloved and the Lover, the Generous and the Benevolent. You are Allah."
