Dr. Idris Khalifa (Dean of the Faculty of Religious Sciences in Tétouan and the head of the Scientific Council )
"The distinguished jurist, the honorable scholar, Sheikh and educator, Sidi Al-Amine Rusi El-Hassani, a Moroccan scholar who engaged in teaching, preaching, guidance, and Sufi education at his father's zawiyah in Al-Qasr Al-Kabir. His scholarly output is evidence of his connection to the intellectual and scientific awakening of Muslims in the modern era."
Dr. Mohamed Akhrif (President of the Historical and Social Research Association in the fortified city of Al-Qsar Al-Kabir.)
"It is not unusual for the city of Al-Qasr Al-Kabir, the oldest and most venerable city in Morocco, a city that remained a center for jihad for many centuries, a city that has produced scholars, literati, and poets like the eminent scholar Abu Al-Mahasin Yusuf Al-Qasri, the renowned scholar Abd al-Qadir ibn Ali Al-Fasi Al-Qasri, Abd al-Jalil Al-Andalusi Al-Qasri, and many others, to witness the appearance of the honorable scholar, Sheikh Sidi Abdullah Rusi El-Hasani."
"The author possesses a broad perspective and a discerning understanding of Islam, which may depart from the biases, insularity, and rigidity typically associated with some Sufi orders. He calls for authenticity and contemporaneity with the aim of achieving balance. He states, 'Embracing authenticity and engaging with contemporary ideas is a spiritual and cultural balance, ensuring continued intellectual development for building the present and future of the youth.' He further emphasizes, 'Balance is therefore a duty among all these components.'"
Yes, his knowledge was extensive, and his deep understanding of the Quran and the great Sunnah of the Prophet, unparalleled in his time. He was known for his knowledge, piety, his interactions with others, and his character, which made him beloved to all of humanity. He never ceased to pray for the good and kindness of everyone. He was a true lover of God. This is explicit in a letter from Professor Sidi Mustafa Bouhssina Serifi:
"Sidi Al-Amine carried himself with the same dignity and grandeur that he exhibited in his youth, qualities that set him apart from his peers. All good qualities converged in him as if they had an appointment with him. He was a quiet man, always wearing a genuine smile, free from any hypocrisy or insincerity. A gentle man towards his children and everyone he met, because he continuously professed that love should be for God and from God."
"This is the virtuous sheikh who was honored by God with knowledge and wisdom and with the mission to call people to His true religion. He worked tirelessly to support it, and no obstacle could deter him because of his genuine trust in God Almighty."
The honorable teacher Mohammed Ben Abdessalam Benmoussa said in his introduction to the book "Historical Insights from the Collective Memory of the Sheikh, May God be Pleased with Him":
"Recalling forgotten events and highlighting their uniqueness in the book makes the reader gush with beautiful praise and deep gratitude for the author. Engaging with historical texts and research contained in the book gives the feeling that there are many elements that have shed light on mysterious aspects of the history of North Morocco, or rather on a part of it that has been forgotten or neglected."
"If the best of the knowledgeable say, 'Whoever does you a favor, repay them,' then the learned scholar, Sheikh Al-Amine, deserves recognition, admiration, and appreciation, as he is one of the educators who significantly contributed to shaping minds and souls before and after independence. He is a role model who nurtured generations with knowledge and wisdom. May God reward him with the best of rewards. May God bless those minds that tirelessly work for the service of knowledge and scholars and contribute greatly to the advancement of cultural, social, spiritual, and humanitarian life."
"May God grant you, O noble sheikh, abundant health and well-being and perpetuate upon you the authority of scholars and the dignity of the honorable. Peace be upon you and the mercy of God."
And the distinguished professor, Al-Hasan Ibn Ahsayn, said about him in his review of the book "Tuhfat Al-Khitab" by Sheikh si Al-Amine, may God be pleased with him:
"... The excellence of your character, your virtuous piety, and your good cultural background have qualified you for the preaching mission that you have undertaken for many years, in addition to lessons of admonishment and guidance. Moreover, your sense of pride and self-esteem has further strengthened these abilities in you. It has also earned you the love of many of your friends. Naturally, I consider myself one of them."
"The diverse topics of your sermon collection, as mentioned in your book, unmistakably indicate your ability to consider the level of your listeners, the diversity of their perceptions, and the information and guidance they need about their true religion, Islam, while emphasizing its moderation and balance and distancing from extremism and empty rhetoric. It becomes clear that your book 'Tuhfat Al-Khitab' can be considered a model to emulate, especially since its author is one of those men who genuinely embodied pure Sufism and willingly moistened their tongues with the remembrance of the Almighty, while simultaneously exalting Him. They continue to praise and follow the guidance of His Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and send blessings upon him at all times and moments. This is a testament to their genuine love for Him and their adherence to the great call of Islam, to which they have adhered, worked accordingly, and either achieved success and happiness or lost and failed."
And the honorable Professor Mustafa Bouhssina Serifi said in his review of the book "Historical Insights from the Collective Memory":
"... A man unparalleled in these days, he has become a symbol of asceticism and devotion during the period from the early 1950s to our present day. He is the noble sheikh and scholar who knows matters of religion and the world. He is a truthful man in word and deed, with his humble, pleasant demeanor, storing the divine beauty in his dignified attire and appearance. He is the honorable Hajj Sidi Al-Amine Rusi El-Hassani, a member of the Moroccan League since its establishment to our present day. I have known him since my childhood when I used to run and play in the vicinity of the Grand Mosque in Larache. The scholar, Sidi Al-Amine, used to frequent our small Darqawi Sufi center located in our neighborhood 6 , near the closed council chamber. We were just children, and we would observe his arrival, approach him, kiss his hand, then leave. We would watch the scholar as he entered the Sufi center, which seemed to us like a residential house. Its door remained almost closed, only to be opened by the arrival of Sidi Al-Amine."
And the honorable Professor Muhammad bin Abdul Salam bin Mousa said in his review of the book 'Naseem Al-Wusool' by the esteemed scholar Sheikh, may God have mercy on him. His words were as follows:
"...We have forgotten some of the religious and spiritual knowledge in our present time, or it was on the verge of being forgotten. The gap that we neglected for some time has widened until we eventually found ourselves outside of our system. Because one of God's laws is that existence continues through time, no matter how it changes, God has ordained for every era individuals who challenge its transformations, contribute to it, and add to it."
"This is where the book of the virtuous scholar, Sheikh Sidi Al-Amine Rusi El-Hassani, 'Naseem Al-Wissal,' came as a means to bridge the gap and a reminder of the various practical duties that a servant owes to his Lord during his mornings and evenings. It delves into the secrets and open aspects of worship, the movements and moments of stillness. In this book, the heart becomes filled with the remembrance of God, and the soul finds tranquility in what is in the hands of God. 'Unquestionably, by the remembrance of God, hearts are assured.'"
"I know very well, as one of your students, that what is found in your book 'Naseem Al-Wissal' is but a small fraction of what your profound knowledge and eloquence have poured out upon your students and disciples in the schools, mosques, and Sufi centers. Indeed, in every gathering you have frequented throughout your long life."
"'Naseem Al-Wissal' is a brick that has filled a gap, and we hope that you may place more such bricks that secure the footing of those who have embarked on the path of 'wusool' (spiritual connection). There is no one more sincere than the pioneering guide who knows the perils of the journey, making the difficult easy for the sake of the desired goal, which is the union."
"So, my dear Sheikh, take your students and those who have tasted the pleasure of spiritual connection on this path by the hand and guide them to their destination. You are a trustworthy pioneer, and such a person does not betray his mission. May you remain in good health and may God adorn you with patience and knowledge. May He grant you the joy of spiritual connection. Surely, He is All-Hearing, All-Responding."
The esteemed Professor Sidi Mohammed Al-Omrani, the head of the Tijaniyya Sufi order in Larache, said about him, may Allah be pleased with him:
"...The image of the late deceased scholar was deeply ingrained in the general populace of Larache, especially among the impoverished travelers from various backgrounds and sources. He was perceived as a knowledgeable and enlightened scholar well-versed in numerous fields of knowledge and the arts. His activities in the realm of education, guidance, and righteous preaching on the path of truth were highly regarded. He was, by the grace of Allah, a genuine orator, eloquent, and a meticulous organizer."
Regarding him, the esteemed scholar, Ben Moussa Mohammed, said about the former students and pupils of the original secondary school in Larache:
"...A historical, religious, and Sufi encyclopedia; his ethics were of the highest standard, marked by purity, clarity, and an inherent sense of altruism towards all people. This is what made him beloved and honored by everyone."
"Yes, he was, by the grace of Allah, a remarkably generous individual, with people holding him in the highest regard and esteem. He set a unique example in his social conduct and interpersonal relationships. He never considered anyone an enemy and never betrayed a friend. Throughout the course of his life, his name was repeatedly spoken on the tongues of all."
The students who memorized the Quran at the private school in Larache spoke about him through the esteemed Professor Bashir Al-Samdi:
"...Life on this Earth, from the time it began until it ends, is but a short, whimsical tale in the grand scheme of the divine eternity. Yet, there remains one thing that the universe recalls, and the angels echo: knowledge that benefits and righteous deeds. We firmly believe that our teacher, Professor Sidi Al-Amine, dedicated his entire life to beneficial work in the service of spiritual education and all matters related to religious knowledge. He worked tirelessly day and night for the welfare of others, not for himself. What we learned from him, may Allah have mercy on him, includes having a broad heart, the ability to bear and be patient in the face of adversity. He was known for his patience, which prevented him from making hasty judgments and decisions. He was a man who listened intently and had a strong capacity to analyze and understand complex problems. Most often, his views were accurate, a result of his extensive scholarly and religious experience, which allowed him to comprehend reality and dispel misconceptions."
"This is our teacher, as we knew him, ladies and gentlemen. At this moment, I can only express my deep respect and acknowledgment of him, and my gratitude for what he contributed to his country."
"He, may Allah be pleased with him, had such an aura that anyone who sat with him or came to know him, whether an individual or a group, had their hearts immersed in divine light and touched by his gentle character. They loved him, and this is a great honor that Allah bestows upon those whom He loves from His servants. It is narrated in Sahih al-Bukhari from Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'When Allah loves a servant, He calls Gabriel and says, 'Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so; love him.' So, Gabriel loves him and then calls the inhabitants of the heavens, 'Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so; love him.' So, the inhabitants of the heavens love him, and acceptance for him is placed on the Earth.' This is what the esteemed Professor Al-Sayyid Ahmed Al-Sharqi expressed in his poem 'The Pious Scholar.'"
Tears of devotion flowed willingly,
His hand of mercy dried them in His divine contentment.
The scent of piety filled the air,
Filling hearts with the brilliance of his presence.
The heartbeat of faith, at the dawn of his vision,
For the rise of Allah's light adorned his essence.
The master of beauty graced him with honor,
Infusing the beauty of mercy into his highest stature.
The forefront of righteousness shone from his character,
Running with faith through the depths of his inner meaning.
The path of righteousness never favored another,
Guiding in the vast expanses of guidance because of him.
He who calls to higher pursuits has indeed called him,
And the most eloquent of faith's masterpieces has guided him.
I wish my words could more fully convey,
The mercy and piety of the righteous scholar, our Lord's way.
